2. Our Service and Children
Sage Haven For Kids is a parental monitoring and digital wellness service designed for parents and legal guardians of children ages 6–14. Our Service allows parents to:
- Set screen time limits and schedules on children's devices
- Apply age-appropriate content filters
- View aggregate activity reports about children's device usage
- Access a digital literacy curriculum for children
The Service is directed to parents, not to children. Children under 13 do not have their own accounts and do not independently provide personal information to Sage Haven.
3. Personal Information We Collect About Children Under 13
Because our Service involves monitoring children's device activity, we do collect limited personal information about children. The following is a complete description of what we collect:

We Do NOT Collect
- Full name (only first name)
- Full date of birth (only age)
- Individual browsing history or URLs visited
- Content of messages, emails, or communications
- Individual app names (only categories)
- Photos, videos, or audio
- Contact lists
- Social security number or government ID
- Any persistent online identifier for the child
4. How We Collect Parental Consent
Before collecting any personal information about a child under 13, we obtain verifiable parental consent. Our consent process:
- Adult account creation: Only adults can create a Sage Haven account. We require email verification at account creation to confirm the account holder is an adult.
- Disclosure before child profile creation: Before a parent can add a child profile, we present a clear, plain-language disclosure of the personal information we will collect about the child and why.
- Explicit consent: The parent must affirmatively check a box reading: "I am this child's parent or legal guardian and I consent to Sage Haven collecting the information described above on behalf of my child." This checkbox is not pre-checked and cannot be bypassed.
- Consent record: We record the date, time, and account of each consent action.
5. Parental Rights
As the parent or legal guardian of a child whose information we hold, you have the following rights:
5.1 Right to Review
You may request a copy of the personal information we have collected about your child. Email [email protected] with subject "COPPA Review Request" and your account email address. We will respond within 5 business days.
5.2 Right to Delete
You may request deletion of your child's personal information at any time. You can:
- Delete a child profile from within the Sage Haven app (profile and associated data are deleted within 24 hours)
- Email [email protected] with subject "Delete My Child's Data" and we will delete within 5 business days and confirm completion
- Close your account entirely, which deletes all child and parent data
5.3 Right to Refuse Further Collection
You may refuse to permit further collection or use of your child's information by deleting their profile or closing your account. We will stop collecting from the date of deletion.
5.4 Right to Revoke Consent
You may revoke your consent at any time by contacting us. Revocation stops future collection but does not automatically delete data already collected unless you also submit a deletion request.
6. No Child-Directed Advertising
We do not engage in any form of advertising directed at children. Specifically:
- We do not display advertisements in the Sage Haven app
- We do not build advertising profiles based on children's personal information
- We do not sell children's personal information to any third party
- We do not share children's personal information with advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing platforms
7. Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information of children collected through our Service. These include:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption at rest on AWS infrastructure (US-West-2)
- Access controls limiting which employees can access children's data
- Regular security assessments
8. Data Retention
We retain children's personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service, or until you request deletion. We do not retain children's data beyond 90 days of account termination.
